At a meeting with 21 districts and Thu Duc City on Ho Chi Minh City’s fifth vaccination plan on July 17, Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee Duong Anh Duc requested that this vaccination not allow for large gatherings of people.
`It is expected that the number of vaccines injected will be approximately the same as the fourth phase but the time will be 3 times longer than the previous time,` Mr. Duc said, adding that the vaccination plan is longer to ensure resources and not affect the anti-epidemic work.

Also according to Mr. Duc, the original plan was for the city to start the fifth phase of the vaccination campaign from July 18, but it may not be in time, so choosing a starting date is meaningful.
Regarding the group vaccinated this time, Mr. Duc said that the Ministry of Health limited vaccination to people aged 18 and over, and at the same time removed the limit for people over 65 years old, because this is the group at risk of infection, receiving many people.
Regarding implementation method, Mr. Duc asked districts to set up a vaccination team.
With district concerns such as human resources, Mr. Duc assigned the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health to balance the plan and send a list of resources to the locality before starting the vaccination campaign.
The Vice Chairman of the City People’s Committee requested that districts not temporarily organize vaccination for people in blockade areas.
`Right after the blockade is lifted, people here will be vaccinated. They need to know that this vaccination period is relatively long so they don’t get impatient,` he said and asked the Department of Information and Communications to coordinate with the Department of Health to inform them.

Previously, Mr. Duc said that so far the city has been allocated about 930,000 doses of AstraZeneca, Moderna and Pfizer vaccines for this injection.

According to Mr. Duc, Ho Chi Minh City was initially expected to inject 2 million doses of vaccine, but currently the city has only been allocated 930,000 doses.
`Wherever the vaccine spirit arrives, we will deploy vaccination there,` Mr. Duc said, adding that the city created a vaccination list based on the principle of priority groups.
