Angel Azazel, one of the fallen angels, the angel who spread evil to humanity.
AZAZEL’S APPEARANCE
Initially, Azazel was placed in the ranks of angels, of course, he had a beautiful appearance with white wings on his back.
Dead Sea Scrolls depicts Azazel as a demon:
`Chained to the rough and jagged rocks of Ha… in pitch darkness,`
Meanwhile, Abraham’s Apocalypse depicts him as a rotting bird, a snake, and as a demon with:
`His arms and legs are like those of a human and on his back are six wings on the right and six wings on the left.`
Today, like many other demons, Azazel is drawn with red skin, glowing yellow eyes, and a barbed tail.
CHARACTER
Ever since he was an angel, Azazel was very strong and the smartest in heaven.
`Why did God create man, who would shed blood and be confused, while the angels should prostrate themselves and praise his glory day and night?`
This objection of Azazel was punished by God.
`The whole world is ruined by the teachings of Azazel: blame all the sins on him.`
DIFFERENT VERSIONS ACROSS CULTURES
In Judaism
To the early Semitic tribes, Azazel (meaning the strongest against God) was a true force of evil.
In Christianity
Azazel is a character rarely mentioned in Christianity, because English versions of the Bible translate Azazel’s name as `scapegoat` or `wasteland`.
In Islam
The story of Azazel in Islam goes even further.
Unfortunately, however, this grace caused Azazel to become arrogant, and when God created man, he refused to bow to the new creation.
In the modern world
Azazel is not very famous.
Several works of fantasy mention Azazel as a villain in X-men, Fallen and Sandman.
