At the middle school, high school, and continuing education levels, on March 2, students in grades 9 and 12 return to school but do not attend the second and boarding sessions.
Mr. Son said that currently, Ho Chi Minh City has more than 73,000 12th grade students and nearly 100,000 9th grade students. The Department is asking districts and affiliated schools to review and collect statistics on officials, teachers and students who have passed through the school.
Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong chaired the meeting on the evening of February 25.
In the vocational school sector, Ho Chi Minh City has 203 colleges, intermediate schools, and vocational education schools.
Chairman of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Nguyen Thanh Phong said that currently the Government has not finalized the date for students to return to school. If the Prime Minister decides on the school schedule, the city will change accordingly.
Mr. Phong analyzed that with more than 2,000 schools, each school has 1,000-2,000 students, if all students go to school, Ho Chi Minh City needs 3-4 million masks.
Mr. Nguyen Tan Binh, Director of Ho Chi Minh City Department of Health, said that with a very large number of students, schools are places at risk of outbreaks if not promptly monitored and detected.
Previously, at the Standing Government meeting on the afternoon of February 24 in Hanoi, Chairman of the Government Office Mai Tien Dung proposed that the Ministry of Education and Training allow high school students and above to be able to go to school from the beginning of March because of health problems.
Meanwhile, Minister of Education and Training Phung Xuan Nha said that, through the assessment of the situation by the Steering Committee for Covid-19 Prevention and Control, disease control is being done well.
Concluding at the meeting, Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said that the Government has not yet decided to allow students to return to school in early March but will review the epidemic developments in the world until the end of this week to consider and ensure safety.
Government leaders do not object to the curriculum framework previously announced by the Ministry of Education and Training.
After the 7-16 day Tet holiday, more than 22 million students from preschool to high school will be out of school until the end of February to prevent the nCoV epidemic.
