The 2017 Oscars ceremony recognized a rare case in history.

In Deadline, the director confirmed that he did not go to the ceremony to protest President Donald Trump’s recent entry ban.
Instead of accepting the award in person, Farhadi sent a letter to the event.
Asghar Farhadi received the Foreign Language Film Oscar in 2012 for `A Separation`.
At the same time the Oscar ceremony took place in Los Angeles (USA), a free screening of The Salesman was held in Trafalgar Square, London (UK).
Speaking via video from Tehran, Asghar Farhadi said: `We are all citizens of the world and I will try to protect and share harmony.`
According to the Guardian, at first The Salesman did not dominate the Oscar race as much as the German film Toni Erdmann did.
The Salesman debuted at the Cannes Film Festival (France) in May 2016, winning `Best Actor` (for Shahab Hosseini) and `Best Screenplay` (for Farhadi).
