At midnight on July 20, a group of surgeons from Hue Central Hospital was present at Cho Ray Hospital, after receiving news that a brain-dead person agreed to donate a heart-lung block.

While waiting until 7 a.m. for test results, doctors in both regions were calculating plans to remove and move organs.

`Everyone was anxiously waiting for the results because if the test results were inconsistent, it would be considered that the heart-lung block could not be used. Luckily, at 6:30 a.m., the heart-lung block transfer team returned to Hue and at 7:00 a.m., the test results were negative.

Kidney transplant in Ho Chi Minh City.

Associate Professor Nguyen Truong Son, Director of Cho Ray Hospital, said that while the heart and lung block was transferred to Hue, this donor’s organ tissue was successfully transplanted to a patient with liver cancer and 2 cases of kidney failure.

The organ donor was a patient who had a work accident or traumatic brain injury and had undergone surgery at the front line, but the situation got worse and was transferred to Cho Ray Hospital.

Dr. Thu said that the hospital’s organ transplant waiting list is stored with basic information about blood type, HgA, antibody infection status, etc. When the donor has test results to ensure he is eligible to donate, he will be eligible to donate.

According to Dr. Thu, this time the organ donation had a lot of `miraculous luck`.

This is the first time multiple organ and tissue donation has been performed at Cho Ray Hospital.
