Speaking at the company’s 2014 New Year party, Mr. Yeung said Biel’s revenue reached 3.2 billion USD in 2013. This figure increased to 4 billion USD in 2014, according to Securities Daily.

Mr. Yeung entered this field nearly 30 years ago when he specialized in manufacturing glass for watches.

In 2003, Yeung received his first order of one million units for the Motorola Razr.

Yeung’s company was known by Apple and placed an order soon after.

With a factory system in the cities of Shenzhen and Huizhou, Biel is currently one of the largest glass manufacturers in the world, said Claire Ohm – LG Display spokeswoman.

Named after a city famous for its watch manufacturing in Switzerland, Biel is the company that supplies more than half of phone glass cases for Apple and Samsung.

Biel’s biggest competitor is Lens, currently valued at $6.4 billion and run by Zhou Qunfei – China’s richest woman with a net worth of up to $5.6 billion, according to Bloomberg.

On Economic Journal, Yeung said the company always tries to innovate with advanced technology, aiming to produce fingerprint-free and scratch-resistant glass.

With the increasing number of orders, Biel is expanding its production plant to more than 1.2 million m2 and hiring more than 100,000 more workers.
