In 2022, the Car of the Year award in the B-size sedan segment does not have a winning model because the number of cars launched in the year is less than 3. In 2023, this segment is more exciting, up to now there are 4 names with versions.
Volkswagen Virtus
Launched in March, Virtus shocked the market as a B-class sedan with a selling price exceeding one billion VND.
Virtus model rolled out in Ho Chi Minh City.
The Virtus shares the same chassis as the T-Cross model also sold in Vietnam.
Virtus is the only car model in the segment with perforated leather seats or electronic differential lock, features to control and distribute torque to each wheel.
Volkswagen has a strong brand advantage, driving feel and some equipment on the car, but along with that comes the highest selling price in the segment.
Toyota Vios
Toyota Vietnam (TMV) launched the lightly upgraded Vios for 2023 in May. This decision is not related to the scandal of cheating on safety testing on the new generation Toyota Vios (Daihatsu chassis) discovered in the
Vios 2023 in an urban area in Hanoi.
Because it is an old model and a chassis developed by Toyota, the Vios avoids unnecessary noise in the new generation.
The most valuable upgrade on Vios 2023 is safety technology.
Vios’s advantage is its brand and durability.
Honda City
Honda City is the car model that won the Car of the Year award in the B-size sedan segment evaluated and voted by the jury at Car Award 2021. In 2023, City continues to be a strong candidate for this award because it possesses many advantages.
Honda City 2023 rolls in Hanoi.
Although they are Japanese cars, Honda’s product philosophy for City is much different than Toyota’s for Vios.
The upgraded version of City was launched in July with the exterior and interior design remaining almost the same as the old version.
Not including Virtus, Honda City is the car model with the highest selling price in the B-size sedan segment. City does not have many `options` to pamper users like Accent, but in return the driving feeling is superior to Japanese competitors.
MG MG5
Despite the same chassis, the MG5 2023 imported from China is a completely different product in design compared to the car model of the same name sold since February 2022 imported from Thailand.

Thanks to its much larger size than its competitors, the MG5’s internal usable space is also superior.
The car’s safety features (manual transmission) are also inferior to competitors in the lowest version.
MG5 2023 has strengths in price and spacious interior space.
